The history of the Krone Assmannshausen wine estate can be traced back numerous centuries. Emperor Wilhelm II already enjoyed the wine when visiting Assmannshausen, and Gerhard Hauptmann had his Assmannshäuser Höllenberg delivered from the hotel to his home.
In 2007, the Wegeler-Drieseberg family joined the large circle of Krone wine estate owners. For four generation, the Wegeler-Drieseberg family has been the owners of the wine estates Wegeler situated both in the Rheingau and Mosel. They produce Riesling wines of international recognition.
The quality of the Krone wines which are matured traditionally in the 60 meter long rock cellar shows exciting developments and are considered part of the new generation of German Pinot Noirs. In 2017, the wine estate Krone became a member of the Association of German Predicate Wine Estates (VDP) Rheingau.
