TRADITION AND COMMITMENT

When the Spätlese (late harvest) was first discovered here in Johannisberg in 1775, our family had already been winemakers for 105 years. No reason however, to rest on our laurels! Fine wines need commitment and the readiness of the winemaker to try out new ways.

It is nice to see that the quality and character of our wines is more and more appreciated. For Gault Millau we are “the discovery of 2008”, awarded with two grapes. Where does our success come from? Old vines path the way for more complex wines. Taking special care of our vineyards and radical pruning result in higher must weight and extract.

Late and selective harvesting by hand as well as gentle pressing optimizes the quality of our must. Modern cellar technology and slow and cool fermentation lead to fresh, fruity and full-bodied top wines.
