The family-run wine estate Arndt F. Werner, founded in 1819 is situated in Ingelheim am Rhein. Arndt Werner changed to organic wine farming (ECOVIN/BIOLAND) in 1983 as one of Germany´s organic pioneers. Today, there are 19 hectares under cultivation. Vines grow on the warm, limestone and sandy loess soil of Ingelheim. 60% are white wine varieties such as Riesling, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay.
The remaining 40% are red varieties such as Pinot Noir, Portugieser, Frühburgunder, Regent and Cabernet Sauvignon. Old vines, reduced yield and strict quality management are all measures which result in very ripe and concentrated grapes -all harvested by hand.
This quality management is appreciated by the wine press: Gault Millau and Eichelmann have been rewarding the estate for many years now with three grapes /stars respectively. In national and international competitions we achieve excellent placements.
