TIME, SLATE AND THE VIEW ON A CASTLE

These three things are what the wine has needed for over 250 years at the wine estate Lanius-Knab.  Sites like “Engehöller Goldemund” and “Oberweseler Oelsberg” were already appreciated by the Prussians and most highly classified in 1800. Today, these sites are classified by the VDP, as is the wine estate itself.

On the warm slopes, the vines´ roots grow deep down into the slate, the wines showing a unique crisp and mineral freshness. Careful cultivation by a lot of manual work and a sense for detail, reduced yield and selective harvesting are part of the philosophy; just as careful fermentation and patience for maturation.
