Winemaking at Johannishof can be traced back to 1685. Since 1999 Johannes and Sabine Eser run the estate in the 10th generation. Their Rieslings offer a broad spectrum of style, reflecting various soil types and maturation procedures. Emphasis is put on strong Riesling personality, respecting and even enhancing the different aromas and styles underlying each vintage. Cool and moist cellars built deep into the mountain guarantee best maturation conditions.
VDP.Estate Wines represent basic wines within VDP´s quality structure. VDP. Premier cru wines, dry Rieslings, originate from top Johannisberg and Rüdesheim sites. The range is further completed by off-dry Rieslings, wines with a delicate fruit and by the well-known Rheingau CHARTA wines. Absolute top wines of the VDP quality pyramid are the VDP. Grand Cru wines from Rüdesheim Berg Rottland and Johannisberg Hölle – unique and exclusive wines in the dry segment.
The classic noble sweet predicate wines also originate from these top sites; here grapes are selected from over-ripe grapes, raisins or noble rot.
